Basic Math - ratio to simplest form

Expert: John Zalewski - 4/13/2008

Question
my two problems I need detail info on how to solve these prblems im confused 10 to 8 and 21:7

Answer
Hello, Victoria.

To get these ratios into their simplest forms requires that we divide.

The ratio 21:7 can be simplified by dividing by 7. Both 21 and 7 are divisible by 7.

21/7 = 3; 7/7 = 1.

This ratio in simplest form is 3:1.

Division will help us simplify the ratio of 10:8.

10/2 = 5; 8/2 = 4.

Answer: 5/4.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
John
