Question
We have homework that is a review before the school year starts and I do not remember how to solve the following:

Solve the following.  The domain is the set of complex numbers.

2(M-2)>4-3(1-M)
lwl + 4(greater then or equal to)6

Any help you could give would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gwen

Answer
2(M-2)>4-3(1-M) Do the multiplication
2M-4> 4-3+3m  combine like terms
2m-4> 1+3m add 4 to both sides
2m > 5 + 3m subtract 3m from both sides
-m > 5  divide both sides by -1 and remember that you have to change the sign when dividing by a negative

m < -5

lwl + 4(greater then or equal to)6

I'm not sure what the first part of this one is, can you clarify.  Is it the absolute value of w?  I think it is, so I'll answer for that.

lwl + 4>= 6   subtract - 4 from both sides
| w | >= 2  so w >= 2 or  w <= -2

If you have any questions, let me know.
