I was wondering what the significance of y-intercept was in graphs.

Not sure I understand the question... the y intercept is when x=0 or when the line crosses the y axis.  Same for the x intercept.  I guess they're significant because it's where they cross the axis and they're also easy to solve for (plug in 0 for x or y and solve for the other variable).
