Question The perimeter of a rectangle is 190 ft. If the width is 15 ft. more than the length,what are the dimensions of the rectangle?
Answer Hello, Rich.
2L + 2W = 190 ft.
W = 15 + L
We can substitute (15 + L) for W in the equation 2L + 2W = 190 ft.
2L + 2(15 + L) = 190 ft.
2L + 30 + 2L = 190 ft.
4L + 30 = 190 ft.
4L = 160 ft.
L = 40 ft.
Therefore, the width of one side is equal to 15 + 40, or 55 feet.
Width = 110 feet (55 + 55)
Length = 80 feet (40 + 40)
Hope this helps.
Regards,
John
