Question
My equation is reduced to 4ln(600/P)=ln(75,000/P).  I need to isolate the P but the 4 in the equation is throwing me off.  Can you please help?

Answer
Hi Nicole,

For any constant "a" and positive real-valued number "x", a*log(x) = log(x^a).
e.g., you can verify that log(64) = 2*log(8).

So, you can turn 4*ln(600/P) into ln[(600/P)^4].
Take the exponential function on both sides and go from there.

Expertise

When I work through problems, I like to emphasize concepts which I believe are worth noting. I will try to answer questions in the following areas, but not at the advanced level. Algebra. Sequences & Series. Trigonometry. Functions & Graphs. Coordinate Geometry. Quadratic Polynomials. Exponential & Logarithms. Basic Calculus. Probability, Permutation and Combination. Mathematical Induction. Complex numbers. Physics problems.

Experience

I have worked as a teaching assistant in college. My hope is that more people will share knowledge without boundary, give help without seeking recognition or monetary rewards.
