how do I solve this question
5-1 1/2X=-9
Going on the assumption that the problem is accurate as I applied the parentheses
5-(1 1/2)X=-9
5-(3/2)X=-9 multiply everything by 2
10-3x = -18 add 3x and 18 to both sides of = sign
10-3x +3x + 18 = -18 + 3x + 18
28 = 3x divide by 3
28/3 = x reduce
9 1/3 = x
