Basic Math/Mills

QuestionHello:
I read the following in an old business mathematics textbook:
"Express 13 mills as a decimal part of $1.00."
I can determine the answer as follows: There are 1000 mills in or per $1.00. 13 mills divided by 1000 mills/$1.00 equals $0.013, the answer.
How can I express 13 mills as a decimal part of an amount other than $1.00? For example, express 13 mills as a decimal part of $1.50, and express 13 mills as a decimal part of $0.50?
I thank you for your reply and answers.
Answer1000 mills = $1
so 1 mill = $1/1000 = $.001
13 mill = 13* $0.001 = $.013
I think they just don't want you to leave it as a fraction.
They could have said express 13 mills as the fractional part of a dollar but instead they said express it as a decimal part of a dollar.
Your answer is correct.
Let me know if I can help further.
BTW, I'm out of town and will not be able to respond as quickly I normally try to. Sorry. I'll be back in gear on Monday.
