Question
How fast am I going if I travel 4 miles in 6 minutes?

Answer
Look at the words miles per hour.  It tells you how to do this calculation.

If I wrote it mathematically it would say:  miles/hour.  Miles divided by hours.

Convert your unit of minutes to hours first.  6 minutes = 1/10 hour

Now put it all together

4 miles/(1/10 hour)
= 40 miles/hour
= 40 mph
