Question
Hello Lynn,

This isn't much a of a math question per say just some advice really.

Whenever i go to class for any other subject but math i can retain everything the teacher taught. However when it comes to math i can't retain a lot of information. I am in highschool right now and no matter how much i try i can't retain it. I know how to do it the day it's taught but somehow on a test or even the next day i can't really remember much about it.

Any ideas why this is happeing and how i can retain the information?

thanks,

Answer
It seems that some ppl's brain are hardwired for math and some aren't and they have to struggle.  The only thing you can do to retain is practice.  The more you see it the more you'll remember.  One trick I've heard is to copy your notes.  In class, take notes, then at lunch or after school, recopy your notes, then, do your homework or some practice problems.  That way, you're seeing the same thing 3 times and that should help you retain it better.
