What is the corrent way of calculating variance percentage ei: Forecast 1240 Actual 1357 Variance is =(1240/1357)-1 or =(1240/1357)/1240?
ei: Forecast 3428 Actual 2808 Variance is =(3428/2808)-1 or =(3428/2808)/3428?
I need it the formula to be consistent!

Variance Percentage = ((Actual-Forecast)/Forecast) x 100.
For your example, you'd have (1357-1240)/1240) x 100.
(117/1240) x 100
= 9.43%
In other words, the actual forecast varied by an increase of about 9.43%.
