Question
Through (-9,7) and perpendicular to y=3/2x+6

The directions for this problem is to find the equation of indicated line. Write equation in y=mx+b form.

Thanks

Answer
if the lines are perpendicular then the new line will have a slope that is the negative reciprocal of the line given.  So, the slope of the new line is going to be -2/3.  The only thing left to do is find the y intercept.  To do that fill in everything you know in the eq y = mx+b.  You have 2 points (x,y) and the slope.  Just solve for b

7= -2/3(-9)+b
7 = 6+b
b = 1

So, your eq will be y = -2/3x + 1
