Question
the question is give the slope and a point on the line whose equation is y-5=3/4(x+8) can you help?

Answer
the slope intercept form of an equation is

y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.  So for your equation, start by doing the math.

y-5=(3/4)x+(24/4) reduce the fraction and add 5 to both sides of the eq.
y-5 + 5=(3x/4)+ 6 + 5
y =(3/4)x + 11 so the slope is 3/4

To find a point on the line, just assign x or y a value and solve for the other.  Make it easy on yourself by making x = 4 (that cancels out the fraction)

y =(3/4)4 + 11
y = 3 + 11
y = 14  so a point on the line is (4,14)
