Question
after calculating the population density of South Carolina what's. How can u express my answer in people per square miles?

Answer
There is either something extra or something missing in your question, but it sounds like you have the population of SC and you want to figure out how many ppl there are per sq mile?  Take the number of ppl and divide by the size of the state.  Say there are 10,000 sq miles of land in SC and 5,000,000 ppl in SC.  People per sq mile would be 5000000/10000 = 500 ppl/sq mile
