Question
Hi Lynn

Thanks in advance for your help.

If the regular price is $65.99 and the discounted price is $56.09, how do I determine the discount percentage.

Answer
If you knew what the discount was, but not the final price, how would you solve the problem?  You would take the original price, minus (the price times the discount).  So, let's say the discount was 10%, your equation would be 65.99 -.1(65.99) =  Right?  So, just replace the percentage with a variable, let's say x and then solve for x.

65.99 - x(65.99) = 56.09  subtract 65.99 from both sides and then divide by 65.99
-65.99x = 9.90
x = .15 or 15%
