How would you solve for the following?

Divide $1.00 by $0.33 1/3.

I need to see your calculation for determining the answer.
I think that the answer is 3.

you want 1.00/.33.  It's kind of hard to show long division here since it's hard to make the brackets, but I'll try.

.33 | 1.00     start by moving the decimal 3 places for each value

   _______
33  | 100     now, just do the division

33 goes into 10 zero times
33 goes into 100 3 times with 1 left over.  If you wanted to go further, you would have to put a decimal after the 3, then start adding zero, but for what you need, 3 is probably close enough.
