QUESTION: i understand that cc = ml.  my question is what is the equivalent of 1.4 cc in teaspoons.

You can get there by doing this dimensional analysis:

1.4 cc = 1 cup/236.588 cc = 1 teaspoon/.0208 cups


The cc's and the cups cancel, leaving you with 1.4 teaspoons/(236.588)(.0208), or .284 teaspoons.

Or:

(1.4 cc =) 1.4 ml = .20288 teaspoons/1 ml

The ml's cancel, leaving you with (.20288 x 1.4), or, again, .284 teaspoons.

QUESTION: thank you very much!  im curious what .284 tsp would be closest using a typical measuring spoon or medicine dropper?  am i correct in thinking that it would be a little more than 1/4 tsp?

Yes, it's slightly more than 1/4 teaspoon.

For a more precise measurement:


Fill a 1/4 teaspoon to the brim.

Divide that amount precisely by half.

Divide the remaining amount by half.

Finally, divide that by half, so you have 1/32 of the original 1/4 teaspoon.

Add that 1/32 to a full 1/4 teaspoon.

This will give you .28125 teaspoons, which is very close to .284 teaspoons.
