Question
QUESTION: 3 7/15+5 6/7-1 1/8=

6 9/10-2 7/16=
I tried but I am not sure of my answers...thanks

ANSWER: 3 7/15+5 6/7-1 1/8= 8 2/15

6 9/10-2 7/16 = 4 7/16

since it's an approximation, I'd say if you have anything similar to what I have, you're doing it correctly.

QUESTION: Mrs. Houston,
It would be right if I just write 8 as the answer for the first problem, then a 5 for the next problem?Do I have to write the fraction?
The write answer for this problem 8 11/12+1 2/15-36/11=6 is that correct?Because is an estimation do you think it would be correct just to write a whole number?
Thanks

ANSWER: Depends on exactly what is asked for in the question. If they want a whole number answer, then the first one would be 8,the second 5 and 8 11/12+1 2/15-3 6/11 would be 6.  Rounding each element gives you 9 + 1 -4 = 6

QUESTION: Mrs.Houston,
The only thing that is beeing asked is estimate each sum or difference. In the exercises 4 4/9-3 1/8=1,2 3/20-7 7/9+15 9/17=10 are the answers correct? Is there any other way to do this type of problems? If,I use a different method, if there is one, the answer should be different?

Answer
The answer depends on how you round.  If you round to the whole number, then yes, the answers are correct and that appears to be what they are asking for, so the answers are definitely correct.  I was estimating while keeping the fraction.  Either way is correct, but as I said, the real answer depends on what they are asking for and it appears they are asking for a whole number.
