Question
hello i am really stuck with a maths question about finding the value of x the equation is;

6 + 2x = x - 6
please please could you help me :) thankyou Georgia :)

Answer
The secret to solving these is to "undo" everything that has been done to x.  Multiplication "undoes" division (and vice versa) and addition "undoes" subtraction (and vice versa).  And just remember, whatever you do to one side of the equation, you have to do to the other.  So, let's start by getting all the x's on one side of the equation.  Subtract x from both sides.

6 + 2x - x = x -x - 6
6+x = -6 subtract 6 from both sides
6+x -6 = -6-6
x = -12
