Question
This is for my homework, it says "Add the 10% Goods and services tax onto the price of these items."
The first one is burger and fries, with the amount of \$5, How can I add 10 percent on it?

Karl,
10% is nothing but 10/100. You have to first calculate 10% of the price.
10% of \$5 is 5*10/100 = 0.5

Now, you have to add this amount to the original price which is \$5. Thus total price is \$5 + \$0.5 = \$5.5.

I hope that this helps.
