Question
Hello
I have some difficulties in helping my daughter to solve her homework
Please if you could help me with the following questions:
1) a shade of pink is made by mixing red and white paint in the ratio 7:2. How much of each colour is need to make 45 liters of pink?
2) how can i simplify the following ratio £3:50p?
Your help is very much appreciated

Hello Mary,

1. Let x=# of liters of red paint needed, then 45-x=# of liters of white paint needed.
.  In the ratio of 7:2 means x:(45-x) = 7:2 or x/(45-x)=7/2...cross multiplying gives:
.  2x=7(45-x) or 2x=315-7x ==> 9x=315 ==> x=35 and 45-x=10.  Hence, 35 liters of red
.  and 10 liters of white.

2. I do not understand this question.  Did you correctly type it?
