# Basic Math/simplest form

Question
Which represents the simplest form:  38/33, or, 1 and 5/33

thank you

Hello, Beth.

A fraction in simplest form means that both the numerator and denominator have a GCF of 1. 38/33 is in simplest form, since there is no common factor (besides 1) for 33 and 38. 1 5/33 is just another way of writing 38/33. Neither is simpler.

Personally, I prefer the improper fraction form, 38/33.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
John
