dear sir,
take a number 5000
add 5% 250
total 5250

my question is ..how to to the reverse working
i have 5250 and want to subtract the percentage , so as to come to the original amount i,e 5000

also how to do the above on calculator

The easiest way to add 5% to any number on the calculator is to multiply the number by 1.05.  If you have a % key on your calculator, just put in 5000 +5% =

To determine what percentage you need to subtract to reduce 5250 to 5000, use the equation below.

5250 - 5250x = 5000
250 = 5250x
250/5250= x = .0476 = 4.76%
