Hello:

Plastic model kits have a scale ratio with (1) one as the numerator, as in 1/48, 1/72, and 1/144 are some examples, is 1/2 the largest scale ratio possible for a model kit?

Not being familiar with models, but speaking strictly from a math standpoint, yes, if you're dealing with whole numbers, 1/2 is the largest scale. I suppose you could have a 1:1.5 or some other fraction, but I think model ratios are generally whole numbers. Actually, you could have a 1:1 ratio, but generally you're not going to be building something life size in a model kit.
