Question
I cannot figure out this problem!

Find the density of a material that has a mass of 2 kg and a volume of 5 m^3. Express your answer in both fractional and decimal form

Answer
Lesley,

Density is calculated by dividing mass with volume.

Physically, it tells us how dense a material is, or how much "stuff" is in an object of a certain size.

The units are all important. Make sure you indicate them clearly in your answer.

Dividing mass by volume, we get 2/5 [kg/m^3]. The unit is measured in kilogram per cubic meter.

In decimal form, just convert 2/5 [kg/m^3] to 0.4 [kg/m^3]. Hope this helps!

Expertise

When I work through problems, I like to emphasize concepts which I believe are worth noting. I will try to answer questions in the following areas, but not at the advanced level. Algebra. Sequences & Series. Trigonometry. Functions & Graphs. Coordinate Geometry. Quadratic Polynomials. Exponential & Logarithms. Basic Calculus. Probability, Permutation and Combination. Mathematical Induction. Complex numbers. Physics problems.

Experience

I have worked as a teaching assistant in college. My hope is that more people will share knowledge without boundary, give help without seeking recognition or monetary rewards.
