Question
Hello:

I have a follow-up question. Does $150.00/3 months equal $50.00/month?
If so, this would most likely not be a correct answer to my first question.

Question -
Hello:

Which one(s)of the following answers (1. 2., or 3.) could also be used as the answer to the following calculation?

$50.00/month X 3 months = $150.00 (the month units cancel)

1. $150.00/3 months
2. $150.00 after a 3 month period
3. $150.00 for every 3 months

I thank you for your reply.
Answer -
I don't want to comment on its interpretation.
This is not what mathematics is about. How the money is collected is a matter for the collector to decide.
The maths does not tell us anything about this. The answer comes from side information and a mutual understanding between two parties. This is outside the scope of the equation. The equation does not convey such information.

Answer
I can't answer that. The payment method depends on the prior agreement between the two parties concerned.

All I can say is that 150/3=50. Maths is supposed to be precise and unambiguous.

In general, avoid using a mixture of numbers and words.
As soon as you mix units with numbers, you start sending mixed messages.

If you want to say $50 per month, why would anyone bother writing $(150/3) per month.

The meaning of "$150/3 months" is unclear.
It could mean that they are charging you $150 every 3 months. Or you pay $50 on average per month.
You see how you lose clarity and precision when you mix words with numbers?
