Answer
Hi Will,

1. "x is four less than y" is same as "y is four more than x"
We have y=x+4. You can write this as x=y-4.

2. First part (variable t multiplied by 5) gives 5t. Setting this equal to variable R, R=5t.

3. First form produce of variables x and y. Then, subtract 3 from it. This gives xy-3. If this is equal to 4 times z, xy-3=4z.

4. e.g., In the division 9/4 = 2.25, "9" is called the dividend, "4" is the divisor, "2" is the quotient and 1 is the remainder.

Quotient of x with y is translated to (x/y). If this is 2 more than 0.7*z, subtracting 2 from the former (viz., x/y) must be equivalent to 0.7*z.

(x/y) - 2 = 0.7*z

Expertise

When I work through problems, I like to emphasize concepts which I believe are worth noting. I will try to answer questions in the following areas, but not at the advanced level. Algebra. Sequences & Series. Trigonometry. Functions & Graphs. Coordinate Geometry. Quadratic Polynomials. Exponential & Logarithms. Basic Calculus. Probability, Permutation and Combination. Mathematical Induction. Complex numbers. Physics problems.

Experience

I have worked as a teaching assistant in college. My hope is that more people will share knowledge without boundary, give help without seeking recognition or monetary rewards.
