Question
there are 75 envelops in a package. how many envelops are there in 7 packages?
A) 552
B) 10r2
C) 525
D)625

Answer
Krissy,

The answer is given by 75 times 7.
This is because you have seven packages, each having 75 envelops.

We can do this using mental arithmetic, I suppose...

75*7 is the same as (70+5)*7.
We can take this as 70*7 + 5*7.
Knowing the seven times-table,
7*5 is 35,
7*7 is 49.
So, 70*7=490. Adding this to 5*7, we get

75*7
= (70+5)*7
= 70*7+5*7
= 490+35
= 525
