Question
Can you tell me exactly what conceptual math is?  Do you think it is a good strategy to use for elem students?

Answer
Cori,

I think this emphasizes more a conceptual understanding of mathematics, and less on the specifics.

For instance, it places greater emphasis on formulating and solving problems, rather than getting the answer always right.

At an elmentary level, games may motivate kids to think more creatively about problems. In making maths more fun and easier to learn, the fundamental skills should not be compromised. The kids' performance and reactions are your best guide.

Expertise

When I work through problems, I like to emphasize concepts which I believe are worth noting. I will try to answer questions in the following areas, but not at the advanced level. Algebra. Sequences & Series. Trigonometry. Functions & Graphs. Coordinate Geometry. Quadratic Polynomials. Exponential & Logarithms. Basic Calculus. Probability, Permutation and Combination. Mathematical Induction. Complex numbers. Physics problems.

Experience

I have worked as a teaching assistant in college. My hope is that more people will share knowledge without boundary, give help without seeking recognition or monetary rewards.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor degree in Engineering Science
