what's so significant about 'pi' and it's value?

From a geometry's viewpoint, the circumference of a circle is given by two "pi" times the radius. This property has vast applications in science and engineering, so it is certainly significant.

In communication systems, for instance, analogue frequency (f) [measured in Hertz (Hz)] is related to the angular frequency of a waveform or cycles (w) [measured in radian] via f=w/(2*pi). In physics, the oscillatory motion of a particle undergoing simple harmonic motion is also described by a equation which involves the constant "pi". Pi has an approximate value of 3.14159265.
