Question
QUESTION: what is the 3 second lane and also how many minutes is allowed to bring the ball past mid court

ANSWER: Hi Arbee,

The three second lane is simply the Key. If your team has the ball, then none of the players on your team can stand in the key for more than three consecutive seconds or it is a 3 second violation.

After a team in-bounds the ball, they have 10 seconds to get it past the mid court line. Some leagues it's 8 seconds, but most of the time it's 10. I hope that helps.

QUESTION: When should a technical foul be called, and also if the ball hits of the rim and bounce over the top backboard is the ball called out of bounce

Answer
HI Arbee,

There are many reasons for calling a technical Foul. There are administrative technical fouls. For instance, 6 men on the court, or improper wearing of a uniform. Or after a delay of game warming has been issued a 2nd time.

Then there technical fouls called for improper behavior or unsportsmanlike conduct. There are many scenarios for calling a "T"

Also, in answer to your question, yes if a ball goes over the backboard, it is out of bounds.
