Question
I caught a long ball while on the run for a fast break opportunity. While looking back to make sure i catch the ball someone slid in front of me to take the charge after I just caught the ball. I ran into him while trying to stop . Is this a foul or a charge. I think foul.

Answer
Erik,

It really depends on who had position first. But also, technically when a player on offense has their back turned to the defender, the defender must give him adequate space to turn around and face forward. This situation should have been called a Blocking Foul.
