Question
Team A in their backcourt advancing the ball. A1 while in the backcourt throws the ball to A2 who is standing in the frontcourt. A2 jumps and catches the ball while in the air and comes down in the backcourt. Is this a backcourt violation.
Hi Mark,
The answer to your question is yes. This would be a backcourt violation. The reason is because A2 never established backcourt status before catching the ball. The last time A2's feet left the court he/she was in the front court, hence he/she still has front court status. A2 would have to land in the backcourt before catching the ball in order to avoid the violation. I hope that clears it up for you. Thank you for the question.
