Question
I recently found out that I am not academically eligible for NCAA.  My GPA is fine but I don't have the Necessary core course requirements.  I have already graduated high school and on the NCAA website it said that college courses can't be used to satisfy core requirements.  Do you know what option I have if I want to play collegiate basketball?

Answer
Hi John -
This question is beyond my expertise however, if I were in your shoes I'd check with my state college admittance office and explain my situation to a person.  Sometimes websites can leave out gray area information.  For example you may be able to take a GED test in the core areas you're short in, or maybe a community college can fill in the core requirements.

I guess my advise is to actually TALK to a PERSON at your state college in a position to answer to your questions.  If you're a candidate for a basketball scholarship you might find a community college basketball coach a whole lot of help.

Hope this helps - GOOD LUCK,
Coach Jones
