Question
Wat is a blocking foul? n wat r the different types of offensive fouls and violations?

Answer
Hi Ashish,

The definition of a charge(a charge is an offensive foul) is: An illegal offensive play in which an offensive player runs into a defender who has already planted his feet and established his stationary defensive position and is essentially motionless. If the defender hasn't established position, it is blocking, a defensive foul.

You can also be called for an offensive foul if you are dribbling to the basket and the defender is moving and you cause contact by lowering your shoulder, pushing off the defender, or elbowing.

So a blocking foul is when you haven't established position, you are not square or you are moving unless the offensive player elbows, pushes, or lowers his shoulder.

Good luck!
