Question
Because i don't see this question asked already i am unsure on how to be recruited by a college basketball if you live in a foreign country. I just moved to Korea and i go to school at Osan American High School on Osan Air Base. But i have no clue on how i would ever get a chance to play for a college basketball team while living in a place such as Korea. Could you lend me a hand in how i can help my situation.

Answer
Hi Warren,
Sorry for the delay in answering your question but I didn't get the original email. It is quite possible to be recruited even being that far away from home. It's just going to take a little more effort than normal on your part. There are a couple of suggestions that I have for you. First, you have to make contact with schools you might be interested in attending. You can do this by doing a search on the Internet for these particular schools. Once you get to their website, go to the Athletic Department link and go to the mens basketball page. There you will find contact information on all of the coaches. Start by emailing one of the assistant coaches. Tell them who you are, where you are playing, and let them know you are interested in their program. Some sites have online questionnaires for potential players. If so, fill it out. College coaches are ALWAYS looking for players so this is a good way to let them know you exist.

Second, I don't know how often you will be in the states but you can also look into attending a couple of basketball camps here in the summer. Again, you can look on the internet and find information on various basketball camps that you can attend in the summer and get exposure to college coaches.

Remember, it can be done. It just depends on how bad you want to do it. My email address is below. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Good luck!
