Basketball Instruction - Flash photography

Expert: Bret Temple - 12/3/2007

Question
What about using a flash in high school gyms?
Are they permitted?
Do they distract players?
Most non-pro photographers can't afford the type of cameras that don't need flash.  What about this?

Answer
HI Susan,

I can tell you that in a normall High School gym, an official would ask any spectator to not take "Flash" pictures. It is very distracting to both the players and the officials. Any decent gym's lighting should be sufficient to take decent photographs. If your looking for professional quality, then of course no you wont' get that. I hope that cleared things up for you.
