Question
I just volunteered my husband and I to coach a 7th and 8th grade team because the boys didn't have a coach and weren't going to be able play.

My question is What would be the quickest way for me to learn how to coach a basketball team.  My husband has played basketball and knows the sport but neither of us have coached a team.  Thanks

There are 2 or 3 youth coaching organizations that put out books and videos that are EXTREMELY helpful. Some youth leagues require coaches to attend worshops and become certified in these techniques and teaching methods.

I'm really not trying to sell you anything - you might be able to get access to the material at your local library,YMCA, Boys and Girls Club of High School Federation. You can also look up the organizations online.
Try this one 1st - The American Sport Education Program at www.asep.com This organization has a blueprint for being a successful youth coach.
