Answer Hello Emanuel,
Well I would say you are on the right path as you are setting goals for yourself. Setting goals and designing a path to get there is over half the battle. I am including a great website that illustrates fundamentals with video and instruction. I feel you have what it takes to accomplish your goals as most players worry about there scoring and how they look. You are concerning yourself with what makes your team better and to me that spells out character and heart. To be a great rebounder you need heart. You are willing to do all the hard and unglamorous things to help your team be better. Even though your goal is a personal one it's not a selfish one. There are a thousand players who can score and another ten thousand that want to be a scorer. For the most part these players are selfish and don't really care about there team. Don't get me wrong not all scorers are like that but the majority is. To be a great rebounder you have to have heart and you must be relentless after rebounds and loose balls. You have to believe that every missed shot is your opportunity to become the nation’s leader in rebounding. You will do anything within the rules to get that missed shot. You also have to be smart and not run people over or jump over there back to get the missed shot. You need to out smart them and out position them by anticipating where the missed shot is going. When it comes to blocking shots I am going to have to look into this a little bit more as I have never really taught that. I have always taught to belly up and contest the shot but not to really try and block the shot as it usually leads to fouls. Let me see what I can come up with for blocking shots. In the mean time check out the site below and follow the rebound instruction it has. Good luck and let me know how you do next season. I will look you up on the Stony Brook site to see your stats.
I can answer questions concerning personal and team development which includes basketball fundamentals, drills, plays, conditioning and team strategy. The personal development includes proper shooting techniques and free throws, passing, boxing out, conditioning, and of course defense. Team development includes all the fundamentals; in addition, I can help with a practice plan tailored to the style of basketball you want to teach and play.
