Question
I have one problems when I play basketball.  It's my dribbling I cant seem to do it while im in a game or just playing around. I dont think its because im nervous. Its just that I get picked often with out much work to the defender, and im usually playing a point guard position. I want to improve my handle with both hands.
can you help? I would appreciate any advice thank you

Answer
Hello Mike!

If you are a point guard, then handle the ball and quit giving it away. I hate to be blunt, but the reason most guards get picked is because they don't have a clue what to do with the ball. Are you staionary when you're getting picked? Then have a reason for dribbling the ball. The main reason is to get from point A to point B. Then when you get to point B, get rid of the ball! Most guards get the ball stolen because they have no purpose in mind with what to do with the ball. Get it in your head where the ball should go. Be deliberate with the ball. Look away and pass so as not to "telegragh". In this way, you don't hold the ball indefinitely and give the defense the oppotunity to steal it. When you run the point you are also running the team. Be a General out on the floor. If someone isn't moving to get open, then it's your job to let them know it. Either by whipping a pass up-side their head or screaming aloud for them to move! Get in charge and be deliberate.

I hope this helps, Mark Berrier
