Question
I'm curious if you have any drills that you find particularly effective for teaching fundamentals to 6th graders.

Also, do you have any thoughts on breaking a full-court press?

Answer
Hi Robin,

I actually coached my nephews 12 year old team this summer. I stressed defense and it seemed to make a big difference in the way they played. The parents were suprised that there kids were able to play so intense.
We played straight man and most of our drills were defensive. It's hard to write back to you with drills but let me figure out something and I will send you something. You can't go wrong with the basics. I would keep it simple as possible and be direct and clear on what you want them to do. I think if you can get them to play hard, undrstand the game, and play together you are doing a great job! I will write more later with a few drills.
