Question
Hey, my name is sam loewen and I'm probably going to be my schools starting small forward on our JV team. Tryouts are in about 3 weeks, or the 14th of November. I started running about a week ago to get in shape. I have a question though. I run aproximently 1 mile, then I sprint up a hill which is about 160 steps, or I think 8 times across the width of a basketall court. I sprint up, then I walk down to catch my breath. I do this 3 times in a row. Then I run another mile. I do this about 3-4 times a week. If I do this for the remanding 3 weeks before tryouts, do you think I will be in good basketball shape?

Thanks alot

P.S. I also play organized games about 3-4 days a week.

Answer
Hi Sam,

I think what your doing will help your conditioning. Remember there is no better way to get in basketball shape then playing basketball. Here is a good website for conditioning. Take the time to read it and pick and choose the conditioning drills that you can do and feel comfortable with. Good luck with tryouts!
