Basketball Trivia (general) - FIELD GOAL STREAK

Expert: Jamie Selko - 3/29/2008

Question
QUESTION: DO YOU KNOW THE BREAKDOWN OF CHAMBERLAIN'S 35 FIELD GOAL STREAK IN FEB OF '67

THANKS - DA

ANSWER: Howdy- sorry about the delay, I am moving into a new office and my books are boxed or ont the floor. give me a few more days, if you don't mind.
      Thanks!

Alrighty- got some of my sports books up (I have c. 1400 on baseball alone).
Here is the story on Wilt's (by far and away the greatest basketball player of all time) streak.  He hit those from 17 Feb. through 28 Feb..  The streak started against the Royals, next the Hawks on the 19th, then the Bullets on the 24th, and was snapped against the Royals on the 28th.
(As an aside, during the streak, he also set the record for most FGs in one game without a miss- 18-18 against the Royals).

QUESTION: THANKS FOR THE TEAM BREAKDOWN, BUT WHAT WAS THE NUMBER BREAKDOWN PER TEAM?

DAN

Answer
Howdy-  first, let me apologize for mis-speaking: Wilt has his 18-18 night against the BULLETS, not the Royals.
As for your new question, well, I know that he had thirteen consecutive going into the game against the Bullets, was 18-18 against the Bullets, and then hit his first three against  the Royals on the 28th.  I am sorry to say that I do NOT know the breakdown for those first two games.
(You may be interested, I hope, in these other tidbits: Wilt also had games that season where he was 16-16 from the floor against the Bullets (again!) on March 19th and 15-15 against the Lakers on 20 January.  He shot 74.8% against the Bullets that year and averaged 30.9 points.  His best shooting on the season was against the Bulls (79.7% !) and his best rebounding was against the Celtics (as usual) , 26.6 per game.  against the Pistons that year, he averaged a triple double: 20.1, 22.6, 10.1).

Again, sorry about those first two games.
