Basketball Trivia (general) - Bill Walton's back up center in 73/74

Expert: Bill Emerson - 3/30/2007

Question
I know that Swen Nater was Bill Walton's back up center during his soph and jr seasons at UCLA.  But I can't remember who his back up center was for his senior season.  I attended the game in December of 1973 between North Carolina State and UCLA in the St. Louis Arena.  NC State had been undefeated the year before but were under probation and couldn't play in the NCAA tournament.  UCLA won this match in December.  Bill Walton got into foul trouble in the first half and the back up center came in and UCLA actually pulled away from NC State in the second half and won going away with the back up center in the game.  But I can't remember who that back up center was?  If you could help me with his name, that would be great.  I believe Swen Nater had already graduated.

Answer
I can't find the boxscore for that year, but I agree with you that Swen was gone.  Was Drollinger already there??  I was a big NC State fan that year and was totally stunned when they got beat in ST Louis but was happy when they got revenge later in what was one of the great semi final games of all time, but I still wonder how UCLA blew a 7 point lead in overtime.  I think NC State might have won the next year but 7' Tommy Barker went to Hawaii intead of to the Wolfpack at the last minute.  I love 70s basketball and any time you have a question or comment please let me try.
