Which professional basketball team was the first to score 100 points in a game, and when?  I think The Celtics were the first to AVERAGE more than 100 points per game.

Answer
The Celtics truly were the first team to average 100 points (101.4, actually) for a season in 1954-55, immediately after the shot clock has been invented.

As for the first team to score 100 points in a game, I think we should look even further in history. I haven't found exact data, but my guess would be Buffalo Germans. They played from 1895-1925 against the best pro and amateur teams in the world and won with relative ease. Somewhere around 1910, they beat Hobart College 134-0.
