Kevin McHale was considered by most to be the Celtics power forward during the Larry Bird era.  So, in a sense, that makes Bird the "small forward".

No, Larry Bird was a Small Forward. He played the3 while Kevin McHale played the power forward and Robert Parish played center during the 80's, fomring arguably the best front line in history. But Larry Bird is not a power forward, he's a small forward.
