-----Question-----
Hi, My Name is

Victoria.

I'm working on a school project that entails giving needy families food baskets on a monthly basis. I was wondering if you can give me some ideas on how i can decorate these baskets. I think i'm going to wrap the baskets in wrapping paper and use ribbon to tie it up.

Please give me some ideas if not i will keep looking.

thanks

Hello Victoria,

What a wonderful idea! The wrapping paper would work. You could also use some type of see through plastic wrap. Just set the basket in the middle of it and pull the plastic up around the sides and tie it above the basket with a nice ribbon. You could always use a hole punch on a small gift card or note and tie that to the ribbon also.

There are also places online where you can buy bags that are made to fit gift baskets. Or you can try using a plastic wrap from the grocery store.
The wrapping paper is nice, buy if you can't see through it, then no one can appreciate looking at the lovely basket and it's yummy contents!

Goo our wonderful and giving venture! I hope I was a bit of help.

Answer
Hi again!

Depending on the size of your baskets, you may first want to fill them 3/4 of the way with crumpled newspaper.
Now make a nest of some type of shred. This can be accordioned paper, shredded wood, raffia, fake flower petals, whatever.

Place you tallest items in first. Take a piece of tape and attach to itself to make a ring. use this to place a smaller item high on on of the taller items.

The trick is to not have everything sitting in the nest. It will look too crowded. You can also use clear wide tape to wrap around heavier items. Just place it as neatly as possible, it won't be seen through the outer wrapper.

Google around for "gift packaging" to find the nest fill.
