Beadwork - 1920's style beadwork on clothing

Expert: Pamela Welborn - 7/25/2008

Question
Do you know of a place where I can learn..and have a pattern for, 1920's style beadwork on clothing. I would really like to learn how to do this.

Answer
Well I don't know what you mean by 1920's style - do you mean bead embellished with crystals and fringes?  I would think that you could get any of the bead embellishment books to learn the techniques and then use them to create bead embellishments in the 1920's style.  I bought a book last fall at a craft boutique that was a beading magazine from about 1904 and it has the beginning of the beading boom back then.

I have scanned the book in but am trying to get a publisher to do a review or write up on it.  It shows everything from beaded necklaces to lampshades to some clothing embellishment.

Hope some of this helps.

Pamy
