Beadwork - Maybe you can help: ending a braid

Expert: Nanetta Bananto - 7/12/2005

Question
Hi There,

I am stumped as to whom I would ask about this.  Maybe you can either help or suggest someone.
I am trying to figure out how to finish a leather, 3 strand, flat braid.  I cut a strip of leather (leaving the ends still attached to each other), but my problem is trying to find a way to finish the braid without it looking lumpy, and be able to handle a bit of wear and tear.  It is going to be used to attach to a leather belt that will have on it leggings and breechclout.
  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dear Ed - I am sorry I cannot give you a direct answer.  This is out of my area of expertise. I came across a great site for braiding below, though I didn't see anything about ending the braid.  I am surprised it is so difficult to find information on finishing a braid.  A trip to the library might be your best bet.  I hope this helps in some way.  Nanetta
