Hello, could you please help with this question.  In hip hop speak, what is a matrix?  Thank you very much.

Hi, a matrix is defined as, "A surrounding substance within which something else originates, develops, or is contained."  There is a book and DVD titled "Hip Hop Decoded" that "explains" the matrix.  A quote from the website about it reads as follows
