Expert: Steve - 5/4/2008
QuestionHi There,
Would you consider two more simple songs other than The Beatles ?
Would you consider Looking at "Solsbury Hill" (4:21) by Peter Gabriel ?
Would you consider Hearing a Marquetry "Les Vendanges" (41" x 75.5") created by Spindler ?
Would you consider bringing up on your screen the following address ?
http://www.newmastersgallery.com/ArtistsS2/spindler.htm
Would you consider listening to the man sitting on the right side ?
Would you consider Looking at "Aisle Of Plenty" (4:21) by Genesis ?
Would you consider bringing up on your screen the following address ?

Would you consider listening to Tess and the merchant talking ?
If you considered all of the above, check this site;

Answer Heya Michel,
"Les Vendanges" is absolutely gorgeous! That was the one that I enjoyed the most.
Everything on "Selling England..." is great. If that album came out just a few years later I believe "I Know What I Like", "More Fool Me" and an edited version of "Firth of Fifth" would have been commercially successful. "Cinema Show" "Aisle of Plenty", "Epping Forest" and "Dancing With The Moonlit Knight" would have remained cult favorites. This paved the way for Gabriel to do his thing on "The Lamb.."
And I would consider "Excuse Me" a simpler song than "Solsbury Hill"
The simplest songs are usually what the majority of listeners want - Nothing to have people use their minds. Both Lennon and McCartney had the talent to make the simplest of songs extremely catchy usually with a great 'hook'. "Let It Be", "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "From Me To You", "Help!", "I'm Looking Through You", "Nowhere Man",
"Back In The USSR", "Here There and Everywhere" and Lennon's "Love" are some of the simplest songs I've ever heard/played. Those guys came out with some good stuff.
I was looking up some info on your "Pepper" question - I'll send you a reply tonight.
